Decathlon Hosts Our First Urban Hike

Decathlon Hosts Our First Urban Hike

It was a sunny Saturday morning when we met at the base of the Historic Trail in the Interior Greenbelt of San Francisco, leading up to Twin Peaks. The Twin Peaks are two prominent hills with an elevation of about 925 feet (282 m), located near the geographic center of San Francisco, California. Only 928 foot (283 m) Mount Davidson is higher within the city.

We met at 10am sharp, and attendees were greeted with snacks and information about Decathlon. Some people who came knew about Decathlon from our Grand Opening, others had been to our stores in Europe, and some people had never heard of us! We had a few guests who were unfamiliar with Decathlon, and found out about our first hiking event digitally.  We even had a couple from Miami visiting San Francisco on vacation!

We set out through the Interior Greenbelt at 10am, and took in the natural beauty that surrounds the Historic Trail. What’s amazing about this hike, is that at one moment you’re in the typical San Francisco hustle and bustle, and when you walk up some stairs to the trailhead, you enter lush greenery that makes you feel like you are somewhere far outside the city.

I led our group up the winding trail until it led us to the base of Sutro Tower, the tallest manmade structure in San Francisco. We then took another secluded trail up to Twin Peaks. Once we got to the top, we were able to take some time and really absorb the beauty that is San Francisco. From the top of Twin Peaks, you have a 360 degree view of the entire city. Much of our group had never been to Twin Peaks before, and they were all astounded with the views.

Once at the top, we relaxed, enjoyed snacks, captured the moment, and explored. After a group photo, we began to make our way back down to the bottom. On the way down, we enjoyed each other's company and all experienced that famous “post-hike glow.” We made it back down to the base of the trailhead at around noon, and said our goodbyes. This was a fantastic event, and everyone seemed to really have a great time. Every attendee also received the opportunity for a complimentary Arpenaz 10L. Until the next one!
